Your highway licence application and responsibilities

Site meetings

For skips, materials and highways licences, a site meeting may be required before your licence is granted. This may affect the start date.

We will contact you to arrange a suitable time if a site meeting is necessary.

You must tell the enforcement officer if you spot highway damage before items are placed on the road.

We will refuse applications if the location is unsuitable.

Display your licence

You should display a laminated copy of your licence at the works site.

Warning lights

You must have warning lights on the structure or item from 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise (sunset and sunrise times are given in national newspapers).

Cancellations

Once an application has been processed, the licence fees and inspections fee are non-refundable should the licence be altered or cancelled for any reason. View associated bay suspension charges.
