Swap your council home

It may be possible to move home by finding another council or housing association tenant who agrees to swap their home with you. This is often referred to as a 'mutual exchange'.  

The home you swap with can be anywhere in the UK. 

How it works

To find someone to swap homes with, you can register for free with House Exchange.

You can also advertise and search using newsagents' windows or local newspapers.

If you find a swap, carefully read the Mutual Exchange cover letter and complete the Mutual Exchange application form.

Return your completed form to the Allocation Team:

• By email at mutualexchanges@wandsworth.gov.uk or
• By post to Wandsworth Council, Town Hall, London, SW18 2PU

You will both need written consent from your landlord to proceed with the swap.
