Cost of Living Support for pensioners

The government has provided us with a Household Support Grant to assist local residents with the rising cost of living. Part of this funding is being used to provide a £130 one-off payment to pensioners in receipt of Council Tax reduction.  

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be a pensioner age household in receipt of Council Tax reduction.

You will not have to claim this award - we will either make payment direct into your bank account, or send you a voucher that can be redeemed at any Post Office branch.

Payments

Households will receive a payment of £130 by the end of September 2022. The awards will either be paid:

Direct to your bank account

Direct to your bank account with the details used for the £150 Council Tax Energy Rebate.

If you are eligible for this additional support, you will receive a letter advising that the payment will be made during September.

Post Office voucher

If you are paid using Post Office Vouchers a bar coded letter will be sent to you.

You will need to take the letter with one of the following items of ID listed below to any Post Office branch.

Acceptable forms of ID:

  • Photo ID such as passport or driving licence
  • Council Tax demand 22/23
  • Recent utility bill (dated within last 3 months)
  • Recent bank/building society statement (dated last 3 months)
  • Benefit or pension award letter

You have one month from the date on the letter to cash in the voucher.
