COVID-19 testing

As part of the government's Living with COVID plan, free universal testing (which includes lateral flow tests and PCR), ended on 1 April 2022.

End of free testing

Free lateral flow tests are no longer available, however there are a few groups who are still entitled to them. The government has set out further details on which groups are eligible, and information is available on the NHS testing web page.

Lateral flow tests are also available to purchase in high street shops and pharmacies.

Free lateral flow tests for Wandsworth frontline staff only

In Wandsworth, free lateral flow tests are being offered for a limited period to those frontline workers who cannot access the government scheme, or who cannot afford to pay. The offer will continue while stocks of the test kits last.

Eligible individuals can pick up a free kit at one of the following centres:

  • Roehampton Library, SW15 4HD
  • Battersea Library, SW11 1JB
  • Tooting Library, SW17 9PD
  • Wandsworth Library, SW18 4AQ

They will need to take their job details or a work ID card along as the offer is only open to frontline workers, not to all health and care staff.

Symptoms

Information about symptoms is available on the NHS COVID-19 symptoms in adults webpage.

What to do if you have coronavirus symptoms

Try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people if you have COVID-19 symptoms, and either:

  • You have a high temperature
  • You do not feel well enough to go to work or do your normal activities

Take extra care to avoid close contact with anyone who is at higher risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19.

You can go back to your normal activities when you feel better or do not have a high temperature.
