Shop local and support our local businesses
Supporting local businesses as they start trading again is a top priority for the Council.
That’s why, as we begin to safely reactivate our high streets, we’ve launched our Shop Local campaign to urge residents to support local traders.
Local businesses are the backbone of our local economy and the heart of our communities. Research shows that for every pound spent with a small or medium business, 63p stays in the local economy, compared with 40p with a large business. There is no need to travel into town to shop, because we have a fantastic range of businesses on our doorstep. Cllr Jonathan Cook, Wandsworth Council’s cabinet member for economic development, skills and employment, said: "We can all do our bit by shopping locally wherever possible - whether we are a consumer or another business or organisation. We’ve got some great businesses in our borough and they deserve your support."
Discover which businesses are open in your area or submit a business for free on the My Virtual Wandsworth website.
If you're in need of a particular product or service, or want to find out more about the independent shops in your local area, view the Wandsworth specialist independent shops directory (pdf, 6 MB).
