Child's naming ceremony

A naming ceremony is a very special way of celebrating the birth of your child. It helps welcome the new arrival into your family by making a promise of commitment to support your child. It is also a way of celebrating older children or embracing stepchildren into a new family.

Ceremonies

Once a booking has been made, we will send you a planner so that you can create an individual ceremony for your child.

You can choose supporting adults to help guide your child through their life. The supporting adults, parents and grandparents can make promises to your child. You may like to involve family and friends in the ceremony by asking them to do a reading or a poem. Music can be played, and there is a commemorative certificate to remember the occasion by.

Ceremonies can take place in the rooms within the Town Hall or at any venue within Wandsworth that is licensed for civil ceremonies. The ceremony has no legal status and is non-religious.
