Youth Service

Wandsworth Youth Work Service works with young people aged 11-19 or 25 if the young person has a disability.

The service:

  • Runs full-time youth clubs throughout the borough,
  • Offers a wide range of programmes and activities (including holiday activities) for young people,
  • Has targeted programmes to help young people who are at risk of dropping out or on the edge of getting into trouble through their Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP) programme,
  • Offers advice and information on how to get an education or job through the Connexions service

Wandsworth Youth Council - a group of 15 young people making sure young people's voices are heard by politicians and decision makers.

Schools and colleges

Wandsworth has a wide range of schools offering a high quality education, enabling pupils to achieve their full potential. The area gives parents the opportunity to choose from a good variety of state funded and independent schools, each highly motivated and offering a broad and balanced curriculum. Pupils attend special schools if that is the placement decided following a statutory assessment of their special education needs.

Connexions/Base is in Roehampton and Tooting

Base

Base is slick space where 13-19 year olds (up to 25 for people with learning difficulties or disabilities) can hang out, chat with mates, surf the net and get free confidential advice well into the evening.

  • Music Studio and mixing facilities
  • Plasma screen, and TVs
  • Juice Bar

Education: Training courses and jobs including work based training.

Career guidance: Help with your CV and interview skills. 

Housing: Help and advice for an emergency or planned housing needs.

Benefits: Including registration for Job Seekers Allowance.

Relationships: Including getting on with family and friends, your needs around health, sexual health and drugs.

All advice and support is confidential

Base is located in Tooting and Roehampton.

Central London Connexions provides information, advice and guidance on courses, careers, jobs and training opportunities for young people aged 13-19 years (and up to 25 years for those with learning difficulties or disabilities).

Youth forums and youth involvement

Youth Forums and how to get involved

Wandsworth has a youth forum called LIP - Londoners in Participation. LIP is a group of young people who come together to help the Council make decisions about local services for young people. LIP is open to any young person aged 13-19 and meets fortnightly at the Training Resource Centre. Visit Wandsworth LIP on Facebook for more information.

Health Service

There are lots of heath services that can be used by young people in Wandsworth.
