How to surrender a vehicle

If you want to surrender a vehicle you need to give us permission to dispose of your vehicle and explain where the vehicle is parked.

We provide a free service removing and scrapping motor vehicles that are voluntarily surrendered.

A Voluntary Surrender is when a registered keeper requires the Council to remove and scrap their vehicle on their behalf. This service reduces the number of vehicles illegally abandoned and our costs in investigating them.

How to surrender a vehicle

If you want to surrender a vehicle you need to give us permission to dispose of your vehicle and explain where the vehicle is parked.

You will need to complete the Surrender Vehicle Application form and provide the following proof of ownership:

  • V5 registration document (log book old version) with sections 8 and 9 completed by the registered keeper, or
  • V5 registration document (log book new version) there is nothing to fill in just send

Do not detach any part of the document before sending.

You should send the completed application form together with the proof of ownership and any keys for the vehicle to:

Inspection & Enforcement (Surrendered Vehicles)
Frogmore House (First Floor)
Frogmore Complex
Dormay Street
SW18 1EY

Telephone: 020 8871 8871
Email: onstreetservices@wandsworth.gov.uk

Once the documents and keys are received, they will be checked by an officer and, once approved, arrangements will be made to remove the vehicle. This will take approximately 7 to 10 days. We cannot be held responsible for any paperwork and keys that have been sent in the post.

The vehicle will remain the owner's responsibility until it is removed. You must still pay for parking during this period.

We will send you a letter of confirmation along with a copy of the destruction certificate, at this stage DVLA would have already been notified that your vehicle has been scrapped.

Bring the vehicle to us

If the vehicle can still be driven, it would help if it could be driven into the depot at the above address anytime between 8am to 12 noon and 2 to 4pm from Monday to Friday.
