The previous Mayor

The Mayor of Wandsworth for 2022/23 was Councillor Jeremy Ambache.

Councillor Ambache is a Social Psychology graduate and has degrees from Sussex, York and Kingston Universities. During his career working in both Children’s and Adult’s Social Care he worked as a Social Worker, Manager and Director for several local authorities between 1971 and 2005. Jeremy advised central government on national policies on health, social care and preventing and tackling abuse of vulnerable adults.

After retiring from full time work Jeremy was involved in voluntary work, promoting patient and public engagement within the NHS, as a Trustee of Age UK (Wandsworth) and as Board Member of Wandsworth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) which had responsibility for commissioning local NHS services.

Jeremy was elected for Roehampton and Putney Heath ward from 2014 to 2022 and again this May to represent the new West Putney ward. He was a member of the Planning Applications Committee and Community Services and Open Spaces and he was the Labour spokesperson on Children Services and Education and for Adult Social Care and Health.

During the pandemic Jeremy and his fellow ward Councillors have helped to build ‘social capital’ and community infrastructure in Roehampton working with the ‘My Roehampton’, the Roehampton Response Network, the Roehampton Community week project and the Roehampton Partnership. These groups have all helped Roehampton to build a stronger community with many different agencies working with the local community; this has included schools, Roehampton University, the NHS, the Council, the Police, Residents Associations, local Businesses, voluntary, community groups and religious groups.

Charities
