Inside look at estate regeneration

Published: Thursday 15th February 18

Four videos have been specially commissioned to take a close look at the regeneration of Battersea’s Winstanley and York Road housing estates.

The videos look at the improvements being made on the estate and how they will impact on local people. They include interviews with council leader Ravi Govindia and Lee Bishop from development partners Taylor Wimpey.

Residents’ representative Marlene Price is also shown quizzing Cllr Govindia and Mr Bishop on the plans, and receives assurances that all tenants and resident leaseholders who want to remain living on the estate will be able to do so, and that the area’s unique sense of community will be preserved.

In the videos, Cllr Govindia explains that the aim is to “renew the fabric of the area and the life chances of the people who live on these estates.”

A planning application has been submitted for phase one of the development.  There will be a chance for local people to view the proposals at a public exhibition in the spring. Follow @WinstanleyYork on twitter for details. You can also call into the regeneration site off at 10 Lavender Road, or call 020 8871 6802.
