New walk-in health clinic for Nine Elms

Wandsworth Council has teamed up with the Brighter Partnership to offer free health checks to people in Queenstown.
During the 20-minute consultations at the Rose Community Centre, in Ascalon Street, residents can have their blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI) levels checked. The team will also provide free and confidential HIV tests and support, whatever the result
The clinic will be at the centre once a month to reach as many residents as possible. The first will be held between 11am and 2pm on Friday 29 July.
Brighter Partnership has been commissioned to provide the service by the council’s public health team, who have identified high levels of obesity and sexual health needs in the north east of the borough.
Wandsworth Council Leader Cllr Ravi Govindia said: “It is essential that people living right across the borough have the best possible access to healthcare and bringing these services into communities is very important.
“I am pleased that, after we identified a need for these services in Queenstown, we were able to draw upon the services of Brighter Partnership, which has provided excellent services elsewhere in the borough.”
A Brighter Partnership spokesman said: “We are delighted to be working with Wandsworth Council to deliver a new monthly clinic at The Rose Community Centre.
“We are passionate about bringing health screening services to local communities, especially in areas with limited health facilities close by. At our recent launch of this clinic at the Big Lunch event on Saturday 25 June, I was amazed by the amount of interest for the services we provide.
“Our friendly team will now be providing a new monthly clinic to all the local community in Queenstown and we hope that this new facility will go from strength to strength.
“We welcome all local residents to come along to the Rose Community Centre and have a health screening, or just have a chat about any concerns they may have. As part of our services we can also provide free confidential sexual health screening and advice.”
