Explore new opportunities at Battersea Power Station jobs fair

Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC) is hosting a jobs fair this January 19th for Wandsworth and Lambeth residents.

The event will offer local people the chance to find out about live construction vacancies and training opportunities on the power station site, as well future roles in retail, hospitality, catering and estate management.

WHEN: January 19, 10am - 4pm

WHERE: The Rose Centre, Ascalon Street, Nine Elms, Battersea, SW8 4DJ

Representatives from the development company and its principal contractors will be there to explain the job opportunities and how local people can take full advantage.

Wandsworth Council’s Work Match team will also be there to help with applications and to showcase more training and employment options from across the Nine Elms on the South Bank regeneration area.

Work Match work exclusively with Wandsworth residents to give them a real edge when it comes to securing jobs and apprenticeships.

  • Quantity surveyors and assistants Design managers
  • Information systems correspondents
  • Lead BIM managers Mechanical managers and team assistants

The first phase of the power station project, called Circus West, is expected to open in phases from late   2016 onwards and will include a range of new commercial spaces and new job opportunities.

The Battersea Academy for Skills Excellence set up by BPSDC will work with Work Match to ensure borough residents are informed of the job opportunities and are the first to feel the benefits of this vast investment project by securing employment in the new restaurants, shops and with estate management operators who will manage the concierge, landscaping and security services. As well as access to live jobs vacancies, Work Match offer specialist construction skills training which prepare local people for trades with significant skills shortages. Examples include introductory courses in dry lining, fenestration and curtain walling and asbestos removal, all of which are in high demand across Nine Elms.

The team can also coach Wandsworth candidates through the job application and interview process to give them every chance of success.

About Nine Elms on the South Bank

Nine Elms on the South Bank is a riverside district between Lambeth Bridge and Chelsea Bridge which is being rapidly transformed. The area, which includes part of Wandsworth and Lambeth, is home to Vauxhall, Battersea Power Station, the new US and Dutch embassies and New Covent Garden Market.

Throughout the area underutilised brownfield land is being transformed into new homes and business space, public squares, parks, schools and Tube stations.
