Only one day left to submit school choices
Published: Tuesday 30th October 12
Parents who want their children to start at secondary school next September must submit their applications by tomorrow (Wednesday).
Parents who have not already done so must apply by tomorrow's deadline if they want a place at a state-run secondary school at the start of the September 2013 academic year.
This deadline applies to children who were born between September 1, 2001 and August 31, 2002 and will be transferring from primary to secondary school next September.
Parents who live in the borough must submit their applications to Wandsworth Council. The easiest way to do this is online at www.wandsworth.gov.uk/admissions.
Visitors to this part of the council's website can also access lots of information about local secondaries and how the admissions process works. A special brochure called 'Choose a Wandsworth Secondary School' contains all the key information families need.
Copies can be downloaded at www.wandsworth.gov.uk/admissions. Parents with queries can call (020) 8871 7316.
People who apply online have until midnight tomorrow to submit their applications. Those who are doing so by post, by fax or hand-delivering a paper application form must get it to the town hall before 5pm.
Executive member for education and children's services Cllr Kathy Tracey said: "It is vital that local parents do not miss this crucial deadline.
"If they do not apply on time they may find it more difficult to secure a place at one of the schools they prefer."
"Parents who are planning to apply online are also being strongly advised not to leave it to the last minute. The sooner people get their applications in the better."
Parents who apply on time will be told the outcome of their applications in March next year.
