British Gas Energy Trust
DescriptionThis trust provides help with energy bills and other essential household costs for people living in fuel poverty, or affected by other suffering or distress. It can award grants:

- To clear domestic gas and electricity debts owed to British Gas and other suppliers
- To purchase essential energy efficient white goods and cookers
- For bankruptcy and debt Relief Order fees
- For boiler repairs/replacements
- To help with funeral arrears

The aim of the Trust is to give vulnerable people a fresh start and help them to stay free of fuel debts in future. Awards are usually made to customers of British Gas to clear debts or meet fuel arrears but can sometimes be made to help with other priority bills or household purchases where there is exceptional need.
