|Description||The Headley Trust is a grant-making charity that provides grants of up to £2000 to help disabled people purchase equipment for use in their own homes. It is one of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts. |
Grants are for disabled people aged 16 and over who have insufficient funds to purchase the equipment themselves. Any grant awarded will be for no more than half the total cost of the equipment and will be released via the referring organisation when funds to meet the total cost has been raised. Applications should be referred to the Trust by a third party, such as a registered charity, social worker, hospital or Citizens Advice Bureau.
The type of equipment eligible for consideration includes, but is not limited to:
- Electric wheelchairs
- Adapted computers
- Communication aids
- Stair lifts
- Scooters and adaptations to vehicles
- Any equipment that will improve quality of life
Items such as clothing, furniture (unless it is adapted) or holidays are not eligible. Building work and medical costs are also excluded.

|Eligibility||The Trust provides grants for people with disabilities aged 16 and over that have insufficient personal funds to purchase the equipment themselves. All disabilities are considered, including visual and hearing impairments. |
Applicants receiving benefits, such as income support or employment support allowance, will need to provide proof of this. Applicants not receiving benefits will need to show that their income is £106 a week or lower after paying their mortgage, rent and council tax.
