|Description||Community Network is a registered charity that provides telephone friendship groups and support groups. |
Phone befriending groups, or tele-friendship, can help to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. The groups can be used for social meetings, interest groups, debate clubs, forums, feedback groups, and much more.
People may lose contact with friends and family for many reasons such as getting older, disability, illness, or long-term caring responsibilities. This service can help people connect to others and increase their self-esteem and confidence.
The charity also provides commercial telephone conference call services, and the income and expertise from this is used to support their phone befriending services and support groups. Community Network has received funding to run the telephone groups for free for older adults in London aged 65 years and over.
