DescriptionThe Friends Patient Support Project has a dedicated team of volunteers at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital that provide support to patients whenever it is needed. The project is supported by funding from The Friends of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and offers visiting services, meal time assistance and other support. The following services are available:

- By your side
This service provides volunteers to escort patients with additional support needs who are coming to an out-patient appointment on their own. The service is available from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Please make your request at least one week in advance.

- Visiting service
Volunteers spend time visiting patients that are alone or vulnerable to reduce social isolation. The service also provides visitors to those patients whose relatives are living too far away and cannot visit.

- Mealtime help
Volunteers offer support and assistance to those patients at nutritional risk or those with additional needs.

- Timeout
Volunteers take patients outside the wards on a regular basis, to give them a break from the clinical environment. This service is only available after clinical approval

To request one of the services for yourself or someone else, visit the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital website and click the 'Request additional support' button in the ‘Your Visit’ area. You can also pick up a referral form from the M-Pals office at the hospital.
