AddressSt John's Therapy Centre,
162 St John’s Hill,
Battersea
PostcodeSW11 1SW
DescriptionB+OOST (Balance and Other Opportunities for Strength Training) exercise classes are run for older adults in the community who are worried about falling, have a history of falls or who are at risk of falls.

The service is provided by the Integrated Falls and Bone Health Service from St George's Healthcare NHS Trust. The service runs clinics at St John's Therapy Centre, other clinics all across Wandsworth, and can arrange home visits if necessary. The team are happy to see anyone who answers "yes" to any of these questions:

- Have you fallen in the past 12 months?
- Are you concerned about falling?
- Have you sustained a fracture during normal daily activities or a fall from standing since turning 50?

Bone Boost
The classes aim to reduce the risk of falling, and offer information and guidance about what to do in the event of a fall. A service called Bone Boost is also available for people with bone health issues. Patients should have a diagnosis of osteopenia or osteoporosis.

Staff at the clinics assess bone health status and risk of falling. After assessment, the service can provide advice and an education session Patients then start the Bone Boost classes, which run for 8 weeks. Classes focus on building and maintaining bone density for those with a diagnosis of osteoporosis or osteopenia. This can be followed by Nordic Walking, advanced gym work or Zumba Gold as appropriate.
