|Description||The Stroke Association offers a range of support in the local community, helping stroke survivors and their families make their best possible recovery from the devastating impact of stroke. The Stroke Association in Wandsworth provides two main services: |
- A new Information, Advice and Support Service
- A 6 Month Review Service
The Information, Advice and Support Service works closely with hospital stroke teams and health professionals to support people in their transition from hospital to home and onwards. It provides a range of support to stroke survivors and their families, including information on useful local organisations and details of stroke and carers groups. Staff members are always available to listen and offer emotional support in adjusting to life after stroke.
The 6 Month Review Service aims to identify and address the long-term needs of stroke survivors and their carers, to maximise their independence and quality of life and ensure they remain supported in the long term.

A stroke is a brain attack, which happens when the blood supply to the brain is cut off, caused by a clot or bleed in the brain. A stroke can happen in an instant but the effects can last a lifetime.
