DescriptionThe Minor Injuries Unit at Queen Mary's Hospital provides services and treatment for people with minor injuries and illnesses, for example sprains, bites, and infected wounds. Visiting the unit to see one of its specialist emergency nurses can help avoid a wait in an A&E department.

The Unit does not treat children less than two years old or those involved in car/vehicle accidents. It is open seven days a week at 8am and the last person is admitted at 7pm. The service can provide:

- Treatment and support with minor injuries and illnesses
- Emergency contraception
- Advice on healthy living
- Information about other NHS services
- X-ray services (8am-8pm Monday to Friday, 10am-8pm on weekends and Bank Holidays)

For minor conditions such as coughs, sore throats, ear aches, chest infections and long-standing conditions, you should visit your GP. If you have flu-like symptoms or are suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting, stay at home and seek advice from your GP or call NHS 111 by simply dialling 111.
