DescriptionHestia provides floating support services to people living in Wandsworth to help them maintain their tenancy, manage any other diagnoses (such as substance abuse), and to live independently in the community.

This 'generic' floating support service is specifically for people who have complex needs or who suffer from a chronic illness living within the borough of Wandsworth. There is a separate service for older people and another for people who misuse alcohol or drugs. The support can include:

- Applying for and maintaining welfare benefits
- Managing debts and paying bills
- Speaking with professionals and agencies on your behalf
- Help learning to budget, cook, clean and shop
- Accessing community resources
- Dealing with landlords and neighbour disputes
- Dealing with correspondence
- Providing emotional support
- Finding employment, training and educational resources
- Arranging aids and adaptations
- Looking after health, wellbeing and home
- Finding other accommodation

The service does not offer a personal care service, but it can refer to other services or agencies to help with these issues and the funding to cover the personal care costs. It doesn’t provide housing management services but will help resolve issues with landlords and their representatives.

Further informationThe service has capacity to support 61 people. Referrals can be made through:

- Wandsworth Council’s Housing Department
- Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs)
- Organisations working with groups covered above (e.g. Terrence Higgins Trust, HIV clinics, domestic violence support centres, drug and alcohol centres and other service providers)
- Self referrals will also be considered
EligibilityThis service is for adults aged 18 to 65 that live in the London Borough of Wandsworth whose conditions/circumstances fit within the client groups above. There must be sufficient evidence that the person would benefit from the service or their quality of life would be improved.
