Independent Living Fund

The ILF was set up to provide financial support to help enable disabled people to choose to live in the community rather than in residential care. It provided a payment that enables people to purchase care from an agency or pay the wages of a privately employed personal assistant. The fund was originally set up in 1988 to run for 5 years and after this is was extended until it was eventually closed on 30 June 2015.
