Sheltered and supported housing

Sheltered and supported housing

Do you need a little more support and want to move from your home? Sheltered or supported housing might be for you. Sheltered housing is for older people and offers a safe and friendly place to live, with your own front door, and some extra help like an alarm service and sheltered housing officers. There are also extra care housing services. Like sheltered housing, this is for older people but for those who need more care and support.

Other types of supported housing are available for people with particular disabilities or needs, like people with mental health problems or learning disabilities. These services are sometimes called independent living services or supported living services. The aim of these services is to help people have a life and home of their own, and support them to live the life they want independently.
