Deaf and hard of hearing
Deaf and hard of hearing
Deaf or hard of hearing people can get support from many places. This includes local health services, such as hospital audiology departments, and social services. We provide a Deaf Drop-in Service on Tuesdays. National Deaf Services is in Wandsworth and there are also charities that offer support locally. In this area you will find other places that can help, including well-known charities like Action on Hearing Loss and SignHealth.
If you have communication needs, for example you need a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter, ask your GP practice or health service about arranging this extra support for you. Health services including GPs have a responsibility to make sure everyone who needs their services can access them.
