Our greener borough

Introduction

Greener borough logoAn environmental challenge for residents, businesses and the council.

We want to encourage you to make a personal commitment to protecting the environment. Show that you can make a difference by adopting a more sustainable lifestyle.

What you can do

  • Are you a resident?
Make our borough greener by pledging to make a small change in your daily life. If everyone pledges we can make big savings on energy use, water consumption and rubbish going to landfill.  Pick up a Pledge form from your local library and join the discussion on Project Dirt.

  • Are you a business?
Small Wandsworth businesses have access to support and information from southlondon.biz to become more sustainable and save money.   Email gogreen@southlondon.biz, phone (020) 8947 0055 or visit www.southlondon.biz   We recognise and reward small businesses in the Green Business Awards (reopens late 2010).
  • Project Dirt: Sustainable StuffHave you got a green idea?
The Wandsworth Eco Fund  provides community groups with a share of £5,000 to develop green projects. These could be schemes to improve the quality of our local environment, reduce energy use or increase recycling. Download an application form

  • Are you a Green Champion?
Every year we hold a Green Champions competition to find the most eco-friendly schools, groups, households and individuals in the borough. Entry forms will be available in the autumn. See background information about the Green Champions Competition.
