Local residents can confirm their right to vote online

Published: Monday 30th July 18

All households in Wandsworth have been sent a form asking them to check that the information held on the electoral register about those living at that address is correct.

This is part of the council’s annual voter registration canvass and aims to make sure the electoral register is as up-to-date and accurate as possible.

It will also ensure that anyone who has only recently moved to the borough, or only recently reached voting age can be included on the latest register.

Responding is quick and easy and can be completed online in just a few moments. For many people the easiest way will be to visit www.householdresponse.com/wandsworth and confirm their details using the individual security codes contained in the form they receive.

If there have been no changes in circumstances and the existing details on the form are complete and correct, the process can even be carried out over the phone or by text message.

Completing the form is a legal requirement so responding by phone, text or via the internet is strongly recommended as it helps save taxpayers’ money.

Residents who do not respond are likely to be visited by council electoral staff – so responding promptly will avoid the inconvenience this could pose to local people and the drain it represents to the public purse.

Registering to vote means you can have your say in local and national elections, which can be called at short notice as was the case for the 2017 general election, while being on the electoral register can also improve your credit score.
