The council’s youth service has put together a comprehensive programme of activities for young people which runs from July 23 to August 17. Activities are delivered in partnership with local groups and organisations.

Summer Pick ‘n’ Mix is for all young people aged 11-19, or up to 25 with a disability. Most activities are free, or heavily subsidised, and include:

  • Music and beatbox boot camp
  • Fashion design
  • Hip hop theatre production
  • Drumming lessons
  • Driving theory and practical driving experience
  • Sailing and watersports
  • Boxing
  • Horse riding
  • Yoga
  • A DJ workshop
  • Cycling at the Olympic Velodrome
  • Volunteering

The council’s children’s services spokesman Sarah McDermott said: “We have worked with our partners to come up with activities that will be fun, but will also keep children active, learning and connected with their communities.”

As well as Pick ‘n’ Mix, the borough’s network of children’s centres and youth clubs will be holding activities and there will be holiday playschemes at Christ Church Primary School in Battersea and Smallwood Primary School in Tooting.
