Find out how to grab a council grant
Published: Thursday 12th July 18
A series of Meet the Funder events and application surgeries will be held during July and August to help people prepare applications to the Wandsworth grant Fund.
Previous recipients include the Kambala Cares project to tackle social isolation. The project has taken 150 local people on community coach trips.
In total £319,500 has been earmarked by the council in the 2018/19 financial year to give out in various waves of the Wandsworth Grant Fund.
The fund supports a wide range of not-for-profit activities in the following categories:
- Arts and Culture
- Environment and Attractive Neighbourhoods
- Children and Young People
- Citizenship and Civic Engagement
- Raising Aspirations and Potential
- Health and Well being
Evaluation and assessment is done by specialist council offers and councillors scrutinise the process to ensure value for money and that money is going where it will most benefit borough residents.
Waste Not Want Food use their grant to collect fresh, healthy surplus food donated by traders at New Covent Garden and local Tescos. It's distributed to local people and made into free community meals.
Application deadlines for the next two rounds are August 20 and December 17. A series of Meet the Funder events will be in Roehampton on July 24, Balham on August 1 and Battersea on August 2. These are open meetings giving general information. Register your interest.
Next month applicants can sign up for one-to-one advice at one of two Application Surgeries on August 7 or August 9 at Wandsworth Town Hall. Book your 30-minute appointment online.
