The council has been working with the Wandsworth LGBTQ+ Forum to mark Pride – celebrating equality, diversity and the contribution of the LGBTQ+ community.

Leader of the council Ravi Govindia received a gift of a rainbow flag from Forum chairman David Robson, which was hoisted on the town hall flagpole on Friday and will fly all weekend.

Mr Robson said: “This is the first year that we’ve worked together to fly the flag and I hope it marks the start of a stronger relationship between the Forum and the council. It shows a good commitment to the principles of Pride and a positive message of celebration.”

Councillor Govindia said: “I was delighted to accept the flag this morning and celebrating our relationship with the Forum, which I’m confident will go from strength to strength.”

As the Equalities Officer for the local Green Party I'm pleased that Wandsworth Council have chosen to fly the rainbow flag and have committed to working towards greater equality. I'm proud of the people in the community where I live, in Battersea where diversity is part of the reality. Labels never define you. Be yourself, be proud, be part of the community.
