Festive fun in store

Published: Thursday 23rd November 17

There’s a range of festive events, light ceremonies, markets, winter workshops and more in store for Wandsworth residents this week.

Parkour at Winterfest

In Nine Elms the Winter Trails series of art events continues. Winter Trails is a series of performances, walks, workshops, illuminated installations and film screenings in an area stretching from St George’s Tower in Vauxhall to Battersea Power Station between now and December 21.

Chocolate Films will be running a light box workshop on Saturday, with a chance to paint your own magical scenes in light. The images created will be showcased later at a screening, accompanied by Nine Elms Past and Present, a series of filmed portraits of people connected to the area.

Other upcoming events include lantern-making workshops, a full day of parkour workshops and Meet Me By The Balloons, a trail of LED balloons highlighting the path along the river. Find out more at www.nineelmslondon.com/wintertrails.

Nearby, Battersea Power Station has announced its programme of Christmas events, including gift pop-ups at Circus West, workshops, children’s entertainment and a pop-up cinema.  Find out more at www.batterseapowerstation.co.uk/events.

Christmas in Putney

Meanwhile the borough’s town centres will be hosting Christmas lights ceremony and events. Northcote Road will be switching its lights on from 4.30pm on Friday (November 24) and there will be a pop-up Christmas market on Sunday.

Coming up, Putney and Wandsworth Town will be holding their lights events next Saturday (Dec 2), Balham’s is on December 3 and Tootsmas in Tooting starts on December 1.
