Winter Trails festival launching this weekend

The Winter Trails series of art events starts tomorrow (November 18) in Nine Elms, and will launch with a Christmas lights ceremony and street market
The Christmas lights ceremony and street market will be in New Union Square
Winter Trails will feature performances, walks, workshops, illuminated installations and film screenings in an area stretching from St George’s Tower in Vauxhall to Battersea Power Station between now and December 21.
Everyone is welcome to go along and watch the Leader of Wandsworth Council Ravi Govindia switch on the festive lights in New Union Square at 4pm. EcoWorld Ballymore’s new street market will also be open in the square, feature a wide range of seasonal produce, plus live music.
Other upcoming events an evening screening of shorts on Wednesday and a children’s lantern-making workshop also on Wednesday. Next Saturday Battersea-based Chocolate Films will be running a lightbox workshop for all ages, where the magical glowing scenes created will be contribute to a short film that will be screened at the end of the day.

To help people navigate the programme, a map of the area is layered with the different strands of the festival – movement, sound, words & stories, film, illumination & installations.
All activities are free to attend, but in some cases advance booking may be required. Events can be pre-booked via the website. All children under 16 must be accompanied at all times.
