Roadworks starting Tuesday on A3 West Hill likely to cause delays

Published: Friday 26th May 17

Drivers and bus passengers are being given advance warning of roadworks scheduled for next week which are likely to cause delays in Wandsworth and Putney.

Transport for London (TfL) has approved a set of works to be carried out by Southern Gas Networks (SGN) that will begin on Tuesday, May 30 and is expected to continue until Monday, June 5.

This will involve roadworks on the A3 at West Hill near the junction with Santos Road – not far from Wandsworth fire station.

Temporary traffic signals will control traffic flows but tailbacks are expected further along West Hill on the approaches from Tibbet’s Corner and also on the Upper Richmond Road (A205 South Circular).

Traffic heading in the opposite direction from the Wandsworth one system is also likely to experience delays.

For more information visit www.tfl.gov.uk/roads, call TfL’s customer services centre on 0343 222 1234 or call Southern Gas Networks on 01372 846 929.

TfL, and not the council, is the highway authority for all roads in the Wandsworth one-way-system as well as the A3 and the A205.

  • Traffic in Wandsworth town centre is currently affected by emergency repairs being carried out by Thames Water to a burst water main.

The burst main is located at the junction of Buckhold Road, Merton Road and Longstaff Road. Diversions are in place and motorists are being advised to stick to the advertised diversionary routes.

Thames Water hopes to complete these repairs over the weekend.

Liz, try reading the piece instead of just having a silly rant: "Traffic in Wandsworth town centre is currently affected by emergency repairs being carried out by Thames Water to a burst water main...located at the junction of Buckhold Road, Merton Road and Longstaff Road. Diversions are in place...Thames Water hopes to complete these repairs over the weekend." What do you expect to be done about it - do you think they have a magic wand? As for blaming the Council (and the AA!?) for your traffic frustrations, try this: "TfL, and not the council, is the highway authority for all roads in the Wandsworth one-way-system as well as the A3 and the A205." Oh, and by the way - you ARE the traffic.

So what were the problems today (26/5/17) then ??? Traffic around Wandsworth was total shyte. Is this country nothing but traffic jams/diversions ?? Drove down to past Exeter from Wandsworth - apart from the fact the AA route was crap - nothing but diversions. Lucky I know a bit of the A3 - and didn't have to go off via their suggestion of Hammersmith as a starter - and then get sent on their petrol costing diversions. Wont be voting Conservative Wandsworth.
