‘Unplugged’ street party returns to Old York Road

The popular Unplugged community street party returns to Old York Road, Wandsworth Town on June 4.

The event will feature live acoustic music and a family fun day, plus the chance for Old York Road’s diverse mix of independent traders to showcase their wares.

The eighth annual Unplugged event will take place from noon to 6pm on Old York Road, Wandsworth.

Bars, restaurants and cafes which line the street will be serving food and drink throughout the day and some will be serving their food out on the street, including real cask ales from The Alma pub.

The main stage will be hosted by Wandsworth Radio and features an eclectic mix of acoustic musicians, plus a performance by children from Stagecoach Performing Arts Putney.

Children’s activities include a carousel, ‘The Sweeper’ from Total Wipe Out and a guest appearance from Sammy the Southside-asaurus.

There will be 40 stalls selling arts, crafts, jewellery and clothing, and there is a raffle in aid of of Age UK Wandsworth with prizes from The Alma, Barnes and Bray, Chit Chat Chai, Konnigan’s, Meat Up restaurant and Nuffield health.

On the day of the event Old York Road will be closed from 7am to 9pm from the junction with Morie Street to the junction with Homebase car park. Residents who need to use their vehicles during this period will be able to enter and exit the area via adjoining roads.

Barricades will be manned during the event and emergency services will be provided with access if necessary. Buses will be diverted via Swandon Way, while access to Wandsworth Town railway station will remain unaffected for pedestrians.

The event is led and sponsored by the Wandsworth Town Business Improvement District (BID) and sponsored by Wandsworth Council, Southside Shopping Centre and Young’s. Additional support has been provided by CWTCH, Bramble & Willow, Wandsworth Radio and Mark Plant - Kitchen Design.
