St John’s Way is a new development by Peabody housing association, off St John’s Hill.

The new properties benefit from spacious living areas, with specifications including underfloor heating.

For a two-bedroom flat, prices are from £180,000 based on a 25% share of £720,000 and a minimum total household income: £75,764, with savings of £18,000 necessary. For a three-bedroom flat, prices are from £195,000 based on a 25% share of £780,000 and a minimum total household income of £79,775, with savings of £19,500.

Cllr Paul Ellis, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “In Wandsworth, our approach is to enable new development to take place, so that residents can benefit from the low cost homes which are built as a result.

“There are sites across the borough that, like Peabody’s St John’s Way development, offer high quality new shared ownership homes which are prioritised for Wandsworth residents, so it makes sense to register with our home ownership team and find out more.”

Sarah Butler, Director of Sales and Marketing at Peabody, said: “We are pleased to offer these high-quality new shared-ownership homes at St John’s Way. Working closely with Wandsworth Council, we’re committed to increasing affordable housing supply in the borough, helping local people achieve their dream of home ownership.”

During the 12 months up to October, 2016, a total of 529 homes for shared ownership and low cost rent were built in Wandsworth, which includes 43 previously empty homes brought back into use. This was the second highest total in London. A survey of private renters reported that of the 736 respondents, two thirds cited inability to buy a home as the main reason for privately renting.

I agree with all the comments below. The council should not be getting involved in advertising these extortionately priced flats. People who are earning £75,000 a year can jolly well look out for their own house/flat purchases privately without council help. What are they doing for people who don't earn anywhere near £75,000?

I am looking for a two bed room flat I was and lived in Balham all of my life.

Since when was a £720,000 2 bed flat low cost? Minimum household income of £75,000, what a joke.

What planet is Wandsworth Council living on. By no stretch of the imagination can these be described as affordable for ordinary people. Planners across London need to be told - NO MORE APPROVALS FOR LUXURY DEVELOPMENTS. Build houses that ordinary people can really afford.

How is this good news when the median (ie middle) salary for London is £48,023? That means that half of those working in London earn less than 2/3s of that required. Please, Wandsworth BC, start thinking of those who aren't well off.
