Awards for borough's best businesses

Winners of the fourth annual Wandsworth Businesses Awards have been announced.

Around 250 people attended the awards at the Wandsworth Civic Suite

Businesses of the Year Minar Jewellers and Tooting Market topped the list of winners at a gala ceremony at the Wandsworth Civic Suite attended by around 250 guests.

The awards aim to shine the spotlight on the borough’s most innovative, successful and customer-friendly firm. They were organised by the Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce and sponsors included Hodders Law, Southside Shopping Centre and Wandsworth Council.

The council’s business spokesman Cllr Kim Caddy said: “It’s a pleasure to meet so many local business people here tonight and help present these awards. We are blessed to have thriving business that are boosting the local economy, providing jobs and playing a key role in their local communities.”

Steve Pinto, CEO of the Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce, said: “These awards highlight some of the most vibrant businesses in the borough and set a high benchmark for aspiring local talent. If you run a business we would love to see you enter next year’s awards.”

Winners of the Business of the Year category

Jaysal Pattni from one of the overall winners Minar Jewellers said:  “We were very surprised to receive the award for the Best Business of the Year and we’re thrilled to bits. It is the third year in a row that we have received an award but we refuse to rest on our laurels and are always motivated to give our best.”

Roi Mengelgrein, from the other overall winner, Tooting  Market, said:  “Tooting Market is delighted and humbled to be a joint winner  with our fabulous neighbour Minar Jewellers.  We are over the moon at the recognition for our hard work in improving Tooting Market and will continue our full-time commitment of working with small businesses, pop-ups, charities and the community.”

Your Business Your Growth - four business support  programmes – Food and Hospitality, Networking Wandsworth, Supply Nine Elms and Digital Enterprise -  to support the growth of businesses in the borough.

Work Match – an employment brokerage which works to match local residents to jobs, training and apprenticeship opportunities with local businesses

Wandsworth Enterprise Week in March - a range of events, workshops, surgeries and seminars for local businesses to network, learn and make new contacts.
