The by-election has been called following the resignation of Tooting Councillor Ben Johnson.
Anyone eligible who wishes to vote in the by-election must make sure their name is on the electoral register before the registration deadline of midnight on Tuesday 2 August 2016.
British citizens, along with citizens of Commonwealth countries, the Republic of Ireland, British Overseas Territories and the European Union are all eligible.

. Once your application has been received, the council’s Electoral Services team may need to contact you to request further information, so please make sure you apply as soon as possible.
There is a 5pm deadline the following day, Wednesday 3 August 2016, for people wishing to request a postal vote. This date also applies to anyone who wants to cancel an existing postal or proxy vote. The voter must provide a signed letter confirming this and stating that they no longer wish to vote post or proxy as appropriate.
To apply for a postal or proxy vote, registered electors should visit www.wandsworth.gov.uk and type ‘vote by post’ or ‘vote by proxy’ in the search field to download an application form.
Polling cards have now been delivered to all eligible voters by Royal Mail. These contain information about the date and time of the poll and a map showing the location of voters’ allocated polling stations.
