Published: Friday 25th September 15

The 2015 Balham Food Festival – a week-long feast of food and entertainment - kicks off this Sunday.

The festival will be launched by Masterchef star John Torode at the Balham Banquet in Hildreth Street and Bedford Hill Place from 11am to 6pm

There will be more than 25 stalls featuring a wide range of tasty dishes from local restaurants, bars and cafés, gourmet cheeses, charcuterie, cakes and treats, plus live jazz and other music.

Kids’ activities include cooking classes, face painting, food-based arts and crafts and games, and foodies can enjoy cookery demonstrations by chefs including TV’s  Jimmy Garcia.

There will be a stage featuring entertainment and live music provided by The Bedford, plus the Balham Ukelele Orchestra.

The Balham Food Festival continues until October 4, with offers, special events and promotions available across Balham’s restaurants, shops, cafes, pubs and bars, plus special food tastings in Balham Waitrose.

The festival is being run by Essential Local magazine on behalf of the Balham Partnership, with the support of

Wandsworth Council and sponsors Samuel Estates, Waitrose and The Exhibit.

It is designed to showcase Balham’s wide variety of places to eat and drink and encourage visitors to see what the town has to offer following a £2m town centre improvement scheme.
