Proxy vote deadline is today

Published: Monday 27th April 15

If you wish to vote by proxy, you will need to get your application in by 5pm today (Tuesday April 28).

Polling day for the Parliamentary election and Earlsfield by-election is now just nine days away. If you are unable to get to your polling station on the day you can still apply for a proxy vote.

Proxy votes can be used by people who may be away from home on business or holiday, or have a disability or illness that prevents them from travelling to their polling station on Thursday, May 7. A nominated person can vote on their behalf.

Both the person applying for a proxy and the person acting as a proxy must be registered under the new Individual Electoral Registration system.  If you are not sure if you are registered in this way, check your poll card - it will be highlighted on there if you are not registered under this new system.

People who request a proxy must ensure that the person voting on their behalf is able to attend their polling station on election day. Polling stations will be open between 7am and 10pm.

Application forms for a proxy vote can be downloaded from the council's website. Alternatively residents can call (020) 8871 6023 or email

Polling cards were hand delivered to all eligible voters last month. These provide information and a map showing which local polling station they should use on May 7.
