Published: Thursday 25th September 14

Local people are invited to celebrate the reopening of Putney Bridge on Friday.

The bridge is due to reopen to traffic at 5am following a £1.5m repair project. Read more about the reopening.

A string of events has been held during the summer to get the message across to shoppers and visitors that Putney has remained opened for business. This included the successful Putney Fun day (pictured).

Now traders are keen to celebrate the news that the bridge is opening two weeks ahead of schedule.

The Art Thames Project has invited the public to draw in chalk on the footpath of Putney Wharf to express their feelings about the river Thames. Go along between midday and 7pm. Visit their website for more information.

Meanwhile the Putney Partnership will be in Church Square inviting people to share their thoughts about the closure, and reopening, of the bridge.

Write your thoughts on luggage tags, which will be used to decorate the wall in Church Square.

Balloons sponsored by Marks and Spencer will also be given out to celebrate the opening.
