Get set for January job fair

The council’s Work Match recruitment team will host its next jobs fair at the Roehampton Sport and Fitness Centre on Thursday 30 January, 2014.

jobs employmentThe event will showcase a wide range of local job and training opportunities as well as specialist career advice and information on managing personal finances.

When:   10 - 3pm, Thursday 30 January, 2014.

Where:   Roehampton Sport and Fitness Centre, Laverstoke Gardens, London SW15 4JB.

Unemployed local people will be invited to register with the council’s Work Match team which is dedicated to linking Wandsworth residents with local vacancies.

More than 20 employers, training providers, community organisations, business support providers and council services will be taking part in the jobs fair including the public heath team.

The event will also mark the launch of the Wandsworth Plus Credit Union which will offer local people access to affordable loans and a range of ethical saving schemes.

Their will be workshops and one-to-one sessions focusing on how to start your own business, effective CV writing and interview skills. To book your workshop place visit the Work Match webpage From January 2nd when the online booking system goes live.

Cllr James Cousins, cabinet member for economic development and business partnerships, said:

“More than 400 local people came to our first jobs fair in Battersea and many have gone on to secure work or start training for a new role.  

“The Roehampton fair will bring dozens of employers and support services together to help local people find work, start their own business and make the most of their money.  

“There will also be healthy living advice from the council’s public health team and specialist support for disabled job seekers. If you’re unemployed or in need of financial support then this event can help you start 2014 on the front foot.”
