Wandsworth Town gets ready for Christmas

Get into the festive mood at the Wandsworth Town Christmas lights celebrations tomorrow (Nov 30).

The fun starts at 11am, with a Victorian Christmas decorations workshop, Christmas craft workshop and face painting in Southside Shopping Centre (next to Argos) for children aged three and above and their families. The workshops go on until 3pm.

From 3.30pm to 4pm there will be children's story time for under 10s at Wandsworth Library followed by the switching on of the Christmas tree lights by the Mayor of Wandsworth (Angela Graham) in the grounds of All Saints Church, Wandsworth High Street at 4.20pm.

The switch on will be followed by a traditional carol service in All Saints Church at 5pm. The service will include readings of the Christmas story and well known carols and also feature performances by singers from the National Opera Studio and St Cecelia’s School.

The service will be followed by mince pies, mulled wine and soft drinks in the church courtesy of Wandsworth Waitrose. Everyone is welcome

South Thames College; will host an open day at the campus on Wandsworth High Street offering free taster sessions in a range of adult courses including Christmas floristry, Christmas cake decoration and hand-sewn Christmas bunting making.

A lantern procession from West Hill School via Southside Shopping Centre to All Saints Church will arrive in time for the switch on of the lights.

Father Christmas will mingle with shoppers and accompany the procession to the Christmas tree.
