Half term house of horrors in Wandsworth

Published: Friday 25th October 13

Parents and children might be in for a fright if they visit Southside this half term when the Wandsworth shopping centre becomes home to its very own house of horrors.

Wandsworth Council’s Pump House Gallery has teamed up with Southside to run a series of free spooky Halloween workshops from next Monday (October 28).

As part of the gallery’s OutHouse programme, an empty shop unit next to Argos will be transformed into a house of horrors.

Visitors will be invited to step inside and try a range of free hands on craft activities for all ages, as well as take advantage of Halloween treats aplenty.

Fiendishly fun activities include printing a frightening flag, weaving a spindly spider’s web, sculpting a creepy critter out of clay and creating your own Halloween mask.

Neil Churchill, general manager of Southside Shopping Centre, said: “We are really excited to be holding another Halloween workshop at Southside and working alongside Pump House Gallery.

“The workshops are always successful and a great way of bringing the community together.”

The house of horrors will be open from 11am to 4pm from Monday, October 28 until Thursday, October 31.

Artists Li Williams and Jeni Walker will be on hand during the workshops to offer tips on how to really spook your friends and family – and a fantastic collection of art materials has been donated by TIGER, in Wandsworth.
