Christmas celebrations in Wandsworth

Young and old will be entertained this Saturday (December 1) when Christmas celebrations come to Wandsworth.
To mark the start of the festive season, the Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Adrian Knowles, will carry out the annual light switch-on in the grounds of All Saints Church, in Wandsworth High Street.
The day's various events begin at 1.30pm, from which time visitors to Wandsworth Museum can discover traditional Christmas decorations, make their own reusable decorations and learn how the Father Christmas legend evolved as part of a Past, Present and Future exhibit.
At 2pm, a Christmas card workshop will get underway in Southside Shopping Centre, hosted by art group Collective Studios.
Youngsters are being invited to a Festive Celebrations Across the World-themed story-time session at Wandsworth Town Library from 3pm. The library is also running a holiday season online quiz offering free tickets to Cineworld - visit www.wandsworth.gov.uk/blog/librariesblog to take part.
From 4pm, at All Saints, St Cecilia's School and the National Opera Studio will feature in a Christmas Lights Carol Service, and at 4.50pm a Wintery Sculptures procession from West Hill Primary School via Southside will arrive in time for the lights switch on in the church grounds at 5pm.
After the event, spectators will be able to share mince pies and mulled wine inside All Saints.
The events on Saturday, December 1, are sponsored by Southside, Mount Anvil, Workspace Group, Ipsus Development Limited and Wandsworth Cultural Wealth Fund.
