Free wi-fi at all of Wandsworth’s libraries
Release date: Wednesday 17th October 12
Free wi-fi is now on offer in all of Wandsworth’s libraries so visitors can easily get online using their own wireless devices.
This means borough library users of any age are able to access the internet using their smartphones, tablets, games consoles or personal computers.
Library halls are also covered by the free wi-fi service making them more suitable for business meetings, seminars and lectures.
In addition, having these new wi-fi hotspots gives residents more opportunities to access the growing number of council services that are being provided online as part of the Wandsworth Connected campaign.
Wandsworth Council's environment and culture spokesman, Councillor Jonathan Cook, said: "The introduction of free wi-fi at all of our libraries is a fantastic boost to the service, which continues to change to meet the needs of users.
"We are always looking to improve the way the council serves its customers - with online support playing a huge role.
"At present, Wandsworth residents are able to renew parking permits, view and comment on planning applications, apply for school places and manage council tax payments via the internet."
Wandsworth Connected is a long term programme focussed on improving online services. Already, about 80 per cent of people applying for a visitor's parking permit are now doing it via the council's website.
