Last chance to nominate hero

Published: Tuesday 25th September 12

Time is running out if you want to nominate an unsung local hero for this year’s Wandsworth Civic Awards.

Civic Awards logoThe deadline for entries for the 2012 awards is Monday (October 1), with a glittering ceremony planned for November.

The Wandsworth Civic Awards put the spotlight on individuals who have made a major contribution to the borough. This could include volunteering, community work, helping neighbours or carrying out an exceptional deed or act of bravery.

This year, Wandsworth Council is hoping to receive nominations from all corners of the borough so that everyone who deserves to be given a pat on the back for helping others is acknowledged.

Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Adrian Knowles, said:

"I see such a great community spirit every day which helps make Wandsworth a great place to live, and I think it's absolutely right that this selflessness and hard work is noticed and rewarded."

Putting someone forward for an award is easy. Simply send the nominee's name, phone number and email address, plus your name and contact details, and details of why they deserve an award to the council before October 1.

To email a nomination, send it to civicawards@wandsworth.gov.uk or to send one by post to Wandsworth Civic Awards, Room 144, Wandsworth Town Hall , Wandsworth High Street , London SW18 2PU .

It is a pleasure to work with and for the Asian community. This is a community that has contributed immensely towards the progress, understanding with each other and communial harmony with the mainstream population, thus making Wandsworth an enviable place worth living and working in.
