Cultural Olympiad comes to borough
Published: Saturday 28th July 12
An art installation at Putney Leisure Centre and a ‘bicycle ballet’ at today's Cycle Road Race will be part of the borough’s contribution to the cultural legacy of the 2012 Games.
Green Horses on the Wall and Bunny Hop have been commissioned by the council's Arts Team as part of the Mayor of London's Showtime festival.
Showtime is a range of free outdoor arts events taking place in every London borough to celebrate the games.
The title of bicycle installation Green Horses on the Wall, by KP Projects, is from a Romanian saying meaning dreaming of the incredible or impossible.
Bicycle Ballet will perform 'Bunny Hop' during the first day of the Cycle Road Races today (Saturday July 28) at 11:30am, 1pm and 2:30pm in the Putney Wharf piazza.
It's part of a wide range of food, music and entertainment on offer from Putney's restaurants, bars and shops to keep locals and visitors entertained during the race.
Bunny hop looks at different approaches to cycling through bike tricks and a bicycle choreography.
Green Horses on the Wall and Bunny hop are part of the celebration that Wandsworth Council's Arts Team has put together as part of Mayor of London Showtime.
