Tickets for the Olympic torch relay celebration on Tooting Common will be made available to Wandsworth residents at local libraries next Monday evening.

The torch will be winding its way through the streets of Wandsworth on the late afternoon of Monday, July 23 before heading to Tooting Common for a special party to celebrate the Olympics and the torch's arrival in the borough.

As well as the chance to see the iconic Olympic flame, the Tooting Common celebration will feature live music and entertainment, including appearances by chart-topping hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks and the urban dance stars of Britain's Got Talent - Twist & Pulse.

Also playing will be Wanted Down Under - winners of the 2011 Wandsworth Young Performer of the Year competition, plus a performance by the Graveney School choir.

There will be food, a bar and also a range of other attractions provided by Olympic sponsors Samsung, Lloyds TSB and Coca Cola.

Doors open at 4pm with the festivities beginning at 5pm and finishing at around 7.30pm.

Admission is strictly by ticket only. Tickets, which are free but limited in number, are being made available to Wandsworth residents only at the borough's five main town centre libraries between 7.30pm and 8.30pm only on Monday, July 16.

A maximum of four tickets will be allocated to each applicant on a first come, first served basis. They remain the property of Wandsworth Council and must not be sold on.

Applicants must be aged 16 or over and must bring proof that they are a resident of the borough, such as a library card, council tax bill or utility bill. Anyone who does not bring proof of address will not be given tickets.

The libraries where tickets will available during this one hour slot on July 16 are Tooting, Balham, Wandsworth Town, Putney and Battersea.

I will be on holiday when the tickets go on sale but am back for the event and wanted to go. Is there any other way I can get one before I go on 14th July? I don't have anyone in the area that can go to the library on my behalf. Please help.

I am so upset, the torch comes through Sutton borough and finishes in your borough, so I am excluded from coming to the event, hardly fair when I am a gamesmaker who will be doing 12 hour shifts at Wimbledon for 9 days solid, surely you can make some exceptions??

Well I queued up for the tickets but was unlucky, do feel like that abit unfair as why couldn't u send a letter out asking people who wd like them who lives in wandsworth boro. specially when its a one of event. When most of us came straight from work to queue.

Gutted - this is the first I have even heard of it. I really wanted to go. How was this even advertised to residents?
