More Olympic drop-ins planned

Release date: Monday 9th July 12

Another two drop-in sessions will be held to help people understand the local impact of the Olympics.

The first drop-in has been organised especially for Roehampton residents affected by the cycle road races. Some homes near the junction of Upper Richmond Road and Priory Lane will be severely impacted because of road closures.

The council has announced that parking controls on its housing estates will be suspended for the duration of the Road Race weekend. This means residents of the Lennox and Woking Close Estates can park in any other Wandsworth estate without being ticketed.

Nearby residents will shortly receive letters inviting them to the session, but it is also open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Transport for London and Olympics organisers LOCOG will be on hand to answer questions about road restriction and closures, hotspot rail and tube stations and bus diversions, and will hand out leaflets and maps. Wandsworth will be affected by:

  • The Men's and Women's Cycle Road Races
  • The Olympic Route Network
  • Tennis at the All England Club, Wimbledon
  • The Torch Relay

Times and locations of the sessions are as follows:

  • Thursday July 12, 2pm - 4pm, Lennox Community Clubroom, 42-59 Ludovic Walk.
  • Saturday July 14, 10am-4pm, Putney Exchange Shopping Centre

Wandsworth residents are being urged to start thinking about travel during the games because of likely disruption to roads and public transport.

The council will be tweeting throughout the games to alert residents of local incidents they should know about, such as major road snarl-ups or security alerts. Follow the council's Twitter feed @wandbc.

Just a quick question as to when, time wise, the cycle events on the 28th and 29th will be going past Priory Lane. If you could reply with estimated times me and my dad would be much greatfull as we would love to watch. Thanks.
