Still time to enter photo competition
Release date: Tuesday 7th February 12
Photographers have until Friday to submit their entries for this year’s photoWANDSWORTH competition.
The contest is open to anyone - individuals or groups - interested in photography but the submitted images must be taken in the borough.
Entrants must submit images for one or all of four interlinked categories/scenes before the February 10 deadline.
Using the winning entries from each category/scene, writer Sarah Butler will then create an original new story around the submitted photographs.
The four key categories/scenes, which will form the basis of the story, are:
- Arrival of a stranger
- A secret is revealed
- Demanding an answer
- Looking for a way out
The judging panel - which consists of photography expert Brett Jefferson Stott and Ms Butler - will be looking for unique, imaginative entries, which capture magical images of everyday scenes as well as experimental pictures.
The judges have given entrants the following tips about what kind of photographs to submit. They are:
- Close up shots conveying the emotion of the scene and the motivations/emotions of the characters.
- Medium shots that suggest the relationships between characters and the potential action of the scene.
- Mood/scene setting shots (with or without people) - particularly unusual Wandsworth settings.
The winners will be announced at a prize-giving event in April, this year. There will also be an exhibition of Ms Butler's story and specially selected entries at Southside Shopping Centre as part of the Wandsworth Arts Festival 2012.
