Earlsfield judged a great place to live

The town is put under the spotlight in today's Metro, which details a wealth of reasons why Earlsfield is a great place to settle, including having a vibrant high street, excellent schools, good transport links and easy access to green spaces.

The area has seen a significant transformation in the past decade.

Wandsworth Council is currently helping fund a major revamp of Earlsfield station, which will see the installation of two lifts, new walkways and ticket offices housed in a new, modern building. All work is due for completion this summer.

The station is only three stops from Waterloo so commuters can be in central London in less than 15 minutes.

In 2011 work began on a street improvement scheme in Earlsfield town centre which includes widening pavements, the removal of unnecessary 'street clutter' and upgraded pedestrian crossings.

Homes in Earlsfield are within easy walking distance of Wandsworth Common and King George's Park, where visitors can find the River Wandle.

The Wandle was named one of the UK 's 10 most improved rivers by the Environment Agency last summer thanks to better environmental regulation, a fish stocking programme and huge local enthusiasm for the river from groups such as the Wandle Trust.

Earlsfield also has some of the borough's best schools and is close to a range of leisure facilities. In addition, residents benefit from having the lowest council tax in the country.
